chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Just a quick note to say happy holidays, dear Green Ink readers!

I'm having a little break from work over the festive season with my man, in the deep, dark Welsh countryside, which has already proven fruitful, in the writing and inspiration sense.

Being here reminds me of home - in fact, if there were a few gum trees dotted about the place, I'd swear I was. It's so quiet and peaceful. On my run this afternoon, a few curious horses put their heads over the hedgerow to watch me. I stopped on the way back and patted their velvet noses.

Holiday reading:

The Secret History by Donna Tartt (might finish it tonight, at this rate!)
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
Armadillo by William Boyd
The Blue Afternoon also by William Boyd
Court Green #5: Dossier Sylvia Plath (christmas gift from darling Ivy)
The Persephone Biannually
MY novel! (printed out a draft to edit while on the train)

I must say, I like nothing better than a roaring fire, good food, good booze, and a good book. If it's cold outside, so much the better. So in that respect, Christmas in the UK rocks!!

I will be back with a huge update for you all soon. Until then, wishing you all a wonderful festive season!
